Let’s kick off the brand new year with a visit to beautiful Lamma Island with your U of A buddies!

The first alumni event for 2010, come for a leisurely hike and have a seafood feast at Lamma Island Rainbow Seafood Restaurant.


Details of UAAAHK Lamma Island Seafood Excursion:

DATE: Sunday, 28 March 2010
TIME: 10am – Meet at Central Star Ferry Pier #4 (榕樹灣碼頭)
10.30am SHARP・ Depart Central to Lamma Island Yung Shue Wan (榕樹灣)
12noon to 2pm ・ Arrive at Lamma Island and Hike to Sok Hwu Wan (索罟灣)**
~2.15pm – Seafood lunch at Rainbow Restaurant
4pm – Take boat back to Central Pier #9

After lunch is finished, you can feel free to take the Rainbow Restaurant boat back to Central with the group or stay and enjoy Lamma evening scenery.

** The hike should take approximately 1.5 hours. Please wear good runners/sport shoes and prepare your own water.

COST:
HK$250 for adults;
HK$120 for children under age of 12, and free for under age of 5.
This cost includes boat ride (return trip), seafood lunch, and of course, just great fun with UAAAHK alumni buddies!

UAAAHK 30th birthday!!!

On the 7 November 2009, University of Alberta Hong Kong Alumni Association (UAAAHK) celebrated it's big 30th birthday at the Hong Kong Bankers Club.

30, it's over the hill and what's next?

At the dinner, we invited two very prominent alumni to the stage - Freddie (Co-founder of the association) and Trevor (current President and also served three other terms) to kick off the celebration. We should be proud, over the last 30 years, Hong Kong alumni traveled far and have outstanding achievements from building bridges to working as top management at leading corporations to doctors serving the public.

Now for the future, we must admit the world is no longer the same. We seek to overcome much more challenges (political, economic, social, etc...) and we all need to work hard to increase our competitiveness to excel in the marketplace. However, at the same time, we should always believe in our dreams, never forget... as our U of A President Indira have said before -

DARE TO DISCOVER ~

Our very special musical talent that evening Barry Chung (85 Econ) is a clear example to follow your dream. Don't let your dream slip away, go far and give it a try, because you never know how things will end up.

Lastly, thanks to many special visitors from the University such as Mr Sean Price (new VP Associate Alumni Affairs) and U of A Museums for their presentations.

Want to learn how to skate like Wayne Gretzky? Or maybe just how to balance on ice?

Come and join your fellow UofA alumni at a private hockey/skating party!

Don’t worry if you never been on the ice before, we have hired professional hockey/skating coaches to teach you the moves.

4.30pm-5.15pm: Hockey/Skating lessons by Dragon Centre Sky Rink coaches

Cost: $100/per adult or per children over age of three.
This cost includes skate rental, hockey equipment, snacks and hockey/skate lesson.

Dress: To impress…in red, green and gold. You will walk down an “imaginary runway” to showcase your best costume for a CASH prize!

*When you arrive of the building, tell the security guard you are here for “UofA Christmas Party, booking under Ms Lam and ask for directions to the clubhouse's function rooms.

Directions to venue: By MTR - Lai Chi Kok Station, Exit A. It’s about a 5 minute walk, a map is enclosed.
By Car: If you are driving, the car park entrance is from Sham Shing Road. They can park in Liberte Car Park. The fee is $10 per hour.

Cost: $100/per adult; $50 (children age 12 and under); Free (children age 3 and under)

An evening of fun Christmas riddles to tease your brain, games with a HK cultural twist, and you will also get your chance to walk down 'an imaginary runway' to showcase your best Christmas costume for a prize and a gift exchange. We’ve also got prizes for bowling competition, and lucky draws as well. In addition, we will also be electing the new club president and executives that night.
